Congratulations to Pam Johnston!

Boccia Australia announced that Pam Johnston will be joining their in the role of Australian Head Referee.  Pam comes to Boccia Australia from Boccia England, where she has been involved with the sport for over 20 years.Accredited as an International Referee in 2007, Pam has refereed at many International Competitions including the 2011 Boccia World Cup and 2012 London Paralympic Games.  Pam has also led national Referee and Young Official training; and helped develop the mentoring programme for Young Officials with Boccia England.

Pam will already be a familiar face to many in the boccia community, having been the Assistant Head Referee at the 2014 Boccia Australia National Titles and involved in the development of boccia in Western Australia where she resides.

Boccia Australia was very pleased with the quality of applicants they had for this position, which resulted in some very difficult decisions for the appointment panel.

They are confident that Pam’s knowledge and skills will make positive contributions across a wide area of boccia in Australia, as we work to grow our sport.

The role of Head Referee was advertised during January 2015 with the appointment being for a maximum of 2 years.  In addition to Head Referee duties at the Boccia Australia National Titles, the Head Referee role also encompasses assisting in the development of a Nationally Recognised Officials Course.
